I too, have had poor results using NN. My images were always too soft after using NN.

I use it on a dupe layer & then use a layer mask to apply it to the areas where I want it.

You are scaring me though - how does one accumulate 20,000 posts?

It helps to not have a life? :D

Does NN work on JPG's? I've been seriously thinking about getting a copy and trying it out, but wasn't sure how to use it. I may have to give it a whirl....

Only JPG or TIFF. If you shoot RAW, you have to convert first (at least with the standalone version, I'm not sure about the Plugin).

Layer masking is one way. But NN also has a "noise brush" that can be used to recover detail from areas where you want to save it. Basically you use it to erase the noise-removed image revealing the original underneath.

I like NN. Anything I shoot at ISO 1600 or higher gets batch processed through it. I just use the default settings but turn off the sharpening.
