I've tied some branches to the back railing of our deck to use as perches above the seed, and the birds usually land on the bare limbs before moving down to the rail. My open kitchen window is about twelve feet from the pre-planned perches, which explains why these shots are cropped so close. Most of them are almost full frame out of camera.
