Scarlet Tanager

Very tough to get shots of tanagers as they are usually about 50' off the ground in dense leafy trees. Finally was able to get some decent shots of one semi-close to the ground. One of the most gorgeous and brilliant birds IMO. I saw about 7 of these today, 4 of which were males. The females are yellow (as is the male when not in breeding plumage). I even saw a female setting up a nest.

Excellent captures Bob. They look real nice. The color is fabulous. I hope I get a shot a shot at the Scarlet Tanagers this year. I managed to "pish" a male and female pair out about a week ago but alas only had binoculars and no camera.

I think these are not only nice shots but very rare ones as well. These little guys are tenaciously elusive and you usually need exceptionally long glass. Nicely done.
