To Karen, Mitch, Gary, Hung and RSSFHS, thanks for your comments and suggestions. I have tried to implement them and went back to the same place I shot yesterday and the egrets cooperated. Let me know what you think nd what I can do to make the next ones better.

These look fine, maybe a little hot yet. Do you shoot in RAW? And I was thinking about that other thread when I went to the wetlands today. I said there were always several in that area. HAHA, never say something like that. Today, there was one, out in the middle and he looked like a white dot. :D

If I read correctly, this is your second outing? Great captures...egrets can be really wary at times.

Did you sharpen these while post processing? They look a little too sharpened. In the first picture it looks like a halo around the bird...

Might just be me or my monitor. Just a thought...

Wow, Rocky-what a difference! That first one is outstanding! I pick the first, third and fourth. What I told you was about trying to fix shots once you screwed up--the other guys gave you the real info on how to avoid screwing up in the first place. (as you can probably tell, I screw up a LOT.....lolol.) Really, these shots are NICE!

There is some cropping. Most of these are about 50% of original. using a canon 100 - 400 L mostly at 400. F8 and -1 on exposure, ISO 400.

Mitch, I do shoot in RAW & Jpeg. These are from the jpeg. Mikel, I did no sharpening on these. I did adjust the exposure a bit in PS.

If you have the RAW's, you can probably fix the whites a lot more than you can a jpg. RAW is good for fixing colors and white balance while editing in CS2 is good for sharpening, cropping and other editing of the image.
