Veery out in the open.

I usually see these guys deep in the forest shade so I was happy and surprised to see this one in the clear. This one remained silent, but when they sing it is quite an impressive call that resonates in the woods...wish I could have heard it from so close!

Beautiful! I love Veerys. My wife and I call them the "Price is Right" bird because of their descending song that is reminiscent of the game show music after a contestant wins the bid! Of course we'll have to change it now that Bob is retiring ...

Wow--I never see these guys (or any of the other thrush relatives) except late in the evening, and in total shade in the woods to boot. Very nice job.

I like the first one a bit more due to the angle; you've got the whole side shot, but the bird's also turned just enough toward you to get a bit of chest and the face, as if he's looking at the camera.
