My first gig

Here is the one and only gig I've shot. Almost all shots were with 85mm f/1.8 though a couple I used the 24-105 for (and all shots were at ISO 1600). The main problem I had was the metering had massive problems - in the end I had to set -1.5 EC and it wasn't too bad, but took a while to work out how to get it to meter half reasonably.

Thanks It's funny, because I got some great shots of LLE and a couple of really decent ones of Jag (#2), but they were the acts I liked the least!

Nice set. Some images need a bit of cropping, but apart from that: Very good for the first ever concert.

Thanks. I'm not sure why, but I like to limit myself to 3:2 crops, so I could have cropped many of the images better, but liked to keep the same aspect ratio.

In my experience, Forget about using the cameras metering - if you shoot enough gigs you'll soon learn by checking the lighting and doing a few test shots what kind of set up you need. At most venues, the lighting rarely changes drastically and with the 80 1.8 you should be able to shoot iso 800 with some confidence.

Amen to that! There are a few times where I had to rapid fire and hope for the best because there was no way to lock..

I love the second photo. I would have left more empty space to the left of the singer man and less space to the right of him...

It's hard though. I like the space at the top of the photo, but I would have put him here...
