Hi, does anyone know if you can search in LR for photos that have tag1 AND tag2. Currently, if you click on more than one tag, it finds all photos that have tag1 OR tag2.

There are a few "hokey" methods of doing this (this is one of my pet peeves with LR)... I'll try to steer you in the right path, but pardon me if I make an error along the way... I'm so frustrated, I don't even TRY to do it for the time being.

1) Use the FIND box to search for multiple keywords using an AND switch... yes you will have to remember keywords you want, you will have to type the keyword, and you will have to spell the keyword correctly...

OR try this, also a royal pain:

1) click on first keyword, add all found photos to a quick collection,
2) select ALL of the photos in the quick collection,
3) click on the next keyword you want to use... repeat for as many keywords you want to search for.

I like the checkboxes Elements uses for its keywords searches, personally. I've requested adobe add that feature in a future update (using feature request form)... we'll see if they listen.

Thanks David - I'm glad it wasn't just me being slow!

[nudging in here]... Thanks for the 'quick collection' idea David, never thought about that.

This is one of the PITA things about LR at the moment - Maybe in version 1.1...?

No problem, I got it from someone else, actually... still a pain though, because you can't easily 'unselect' a keyword... that's what I liked about Elements, I could checkmark tags ME, MY WIFE, MY SON, ZOO, and then if I wanted to go back and just see ones with my son and I at the zoo, I could "uncheck" the MY WIFE tag. Unbelievably fast and intuitive... that's why I can't bring myself to type into the find box.

I just think Adobe really dropped the ball here, hopefully improvements are coming soon... only time will tell, because Adobe's keeping their mouth shut about it. If they don't do it soon, I'll have to start suggesting people not get LR until they improve it/fix bugs. (Worth the $170 I paid, maybe... but not worth $300 as it stands now... and if it won't get fixed till 2.0 waste of time AND money.)

To expand more on what David has here let me "redo" his second option.

Click the first keyword.
Press CTRL + A to select all.
Click on the next keyword.
Continue to click on the keywords until you have clicked on all the keywords you wish to search for. (each time you click on a keyword your number of selected images will get smaller and smaller).
When done with the keywords, now add them to a quick collection.

The difference here is that you only send your final selected images to the quick collection and if you, like me, only allow 1 panel to be expanded then you don't have to keep clicking on the keyword panel to open it again.

ah - that looks like a good option. I didn't try the second option - just typed the search in the find box. It's good to have a clicky way of doing it :D.
