We're looking at shooting the Christmas lights at the Mormon Temple over in Kensington and Brookside Gardens on Dec. 3. Sunset's around 4:45, IIRC and the moon will be just past First Quarter. Watch This Space. Around 40 min. from Sterling, depending on where in Sterling (I was just over there this afternoon).

On a weekday it takes a little longer than 40 min...

If it was a Friday, you'd need to leave around 9 AM.

I am planning on meeting you, Jon on Dec. 3.

Also, I'm looking to organize another POTN Wedding Gathering in early spring 2012. I'm getting a few members who live by Williamsburg to help this time, not NYC. I figure it'll be warmer sooner in southern VA than in NY, and we did the last one before the wedding season started. Anyone wanting to help out, please speak up!

I was on a meetup board the other day and found a group in VA that meets up once a month. They have a projector and put up shots for everyone to critique and everyone gives help and pointers to each other. I cant find it again after extensive searching. Anyone here a member of this group?

Sounds like either Unexpected Treasures which meets in Reston or the Alexandria Photography Workshop. They are both good groups, though I haven't been to a meeting of either one in a long time.

Edit: Just checked and it looks like the Alexandria group has not met in a while. U.T. is still very active though.

Alexandria is the one that meets every months to talk about images. UT is more let's get out and photograph, those most have been a little slow this year, compared to the last couple years.
