My wife and I would also be interested. Perhaps an evening/night would be a good challenge and not so damn hot!

Has anyone ever attended one of these Nat Geo seminars? It sounds really interesting and like a fun day of photography, but it's a little pricey just to listen to a chat. I'd love to participate in one if they're worthwhile. Anyone ever gone before?

Thanks for the link. I registered today. Anyone else going? Maybe we could meet up. Always nice to put a face on the name.

Not exactly photo-related, except I use my photos in the course of my talk, but the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the League of WW I Aviation Historians is having their quarterly meeting out at NASM Udvar-Hazy on Oct. 5 (if the government is open; if not, we'll re-schedule). I'll be doing one of the presentations, on some aircraft fabric that we have in the collections, and what they are vs. what they're said to be. Meeting is in the Lab Classroom and runs from 10:00 - 4:00, with an hour or so for lunch. Open to all, not just members. There are several other interesting topics on the program, too.

Cancelled due to the shutdown. We're hoping to reschedule in November some time.

I have a day to kill in Virginia Beach this week. What opportunities are out there for photography this time of year?

Jon....Sorry but have been off this Forum for awhile. Could I get some information on the get together?

Thanks,

It's not a photo session per se, but the quarterly meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the League of WW I Aviation Historians (although membership isn't required to attend). We meet out at Udvar-Hazy in Classrooms 2a & b (lower level, go down the stairs immediately inside the main entrance and turn right - the rooms are on the right); the room opens at 10; meeting kicks off at around 10:15 and wraps up at about 4:00. I'll be presenting my findings (with photos) on some aircraft fabric in the NASM collection at around 2:00; there are 3 other presenters and a general "work in progress". My presentation is a direct result of my being a volunteer photographer out at the Paul Garber Restoration Facility in Silver Hill.
