Hi All,

I took my new G10 out to capture fall colors this morning. I am loving this P&S. It is as close as you can come to a DSLR in the P&S family. It has all the SLR-like controls and tack sharp IQ. I bought it to keep in my glove box as my "photo op" camera...won't miss another opportunity for a great "spur of the moment" shot with this little buddy along.

Bump up the contrast on that one, Jim, and you're good. Love the fall colors. My whole yard is covered today.

Thanks, Suzy...I'm still playing with the right amount of PP to apply with the G10 photos...a lot more processing goes on in the camera than in my dSLRs :)

I do love this little P&S for impromptu shots!

Well i took my camera out and attempted to take some pictures of the trees but, nothing really came out to my liking. When i was walking back to my apartment, i kinda liked how this colorful tree was hanging over this parked car.

I went to the Alexandria, VA National Veteran's Cemetery this morning to capture some fall foliage...it was just beautiful. Here are a couple of samples made with my 5D and the 24-105MM f/4 EF L "kit" lens :)

Thanks, we need to do a POTN meet there...it is a wonderful place to photograph. I have been there four times and always find something new to capture. There are several civilian cemeteries dating back to the early 1800's adjacent to the National Cemetery. Here are a couple of more samples. Anyone interested for a POTN meet at the cemetery?

Jason,

I shoot second to SuzyView...1/2 dozen times this year so far. Work out the details with her and I'll be glad to participate. I am a "pro bono" photographer and do not charge for my work...it is my hobby. I will give you a DVD of all photos taken with no constraints...actually I will give the files to Suzy and she will pass on to you. Here are two recent samples from a shoot I did a couple weeks ago at the National Mall:

Jim - you and Suzy sound like quite the photog combo! Suzy sent me a few pm's back and forth. I'm working on scheduling an official date with my church and will be in touch with you two. The offer is too good to refuse!

I also mentioned to Suzy, I'd love to volunteer for some of the other pro-bono events you guys do. I'd love to learn more shooting techniques from the both of you and help out.

Jason,

Suzy and I have been doing weddings together for over a year now...I learn something new with each event. We would love to have you participate when you can. I have learned exposure techniques fairly well...now I am working on composition. I have a super paying day job and that (plus a very understanding wife) lets me enjoy my photography hobby to its fullest.

Just let us know when the wedding is scheduled and we will lock it down on the calendar. Either one of us can do it solo although we both perfer to have a second shooter on board...in any case we will have you covered :)

I went to Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday for a client meeting. They had just finished putting out 5,000 Christmas at selected grave sites around the cemetery.

Each year Worcester Wreath Company (external link) (the wreath company that provides holiday greenery for L.L. Bean (external link)) makes and decorates holiday wreaths and places them on over 5,000 headstones at Arlington National Cemetery. Morrill Worcester - President of Worcester Wreath Company, based in Harrington, Maine, started this annual event 15 years ago to honor our nation’s fallen heroes. The Arlington Wreath project, coordinated with the Cemetery Administration and the Maine State Society, adorns the white tombstones with evergreen wreaths and red bows to recognize sacrifices our Veterans and their families have made for our country.

Here is a photo I made with my G10 yesterday while we were there.

“Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know that the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell...”
