For those who have had metallic prints from Mpix before do you think that these two pictures would look good on the metallic finish? The first will be printed as 8X10 and the second will be an 11X14.

My experience with metallic paper is that they really don't give a great effect on small prints like 8x10. This of course is a personal choice.

Maybe its the compression for showing them here but the first one appears flat to me, with some more contrast it would be a good candidate. The second one appears soft, even in the rocks which should be sharp. If it is sharp then it would be ok as well.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

sorry no idea, just a question: where do you get your metallic prints?

the second shot looks soft but it could just be too small to tell? maybe a 100% crop of the rocks..

Thanks!

From my experience in printing on metallic paper, b&w type of photo really disappointed me.

Color printed on metallic paper actually pops!

So I would think you second color photo will benefit more than your first.

But if you ask just "normal" or "untrained eye" folks, they may not be able to tell the difference unless they are comparing metallic vs. normal paper.

just my 2 cents.

Let me know how it turns out.

I have had a few prints made with the Mpix metallic paper and have been pleased with them. But, color prints really benefit moer than B/W. It makes bright, vivid colors almost glow. For B/W, try their special B/W paper. I've used it and like it very much.
