Pretty neat behavioural shots Gary. I've seen adults and first year juvies interacting during the winter, but they never stay this close to each other although they do tolerate each other.

Mitch you wouldn't believe how this happened. The Eaglet was Eating her breakfast when I got there this morning after eating what it wanted it went out to get some sun on a limb. A osprey came and landed on the nest to get some food the Eaglet let out a scream and in came Daddy and the Eagle and Osprey put on a arial display better than the Blue Angels. After the osprey left the Dad came and sat next to the Eaglet. (TRUE STORY)

I've seen second or third year juvies chasing gulls and each other, getting in flying time. I know it can be quite spectacular, but almost impossible to capture, short of a video camera. :)

Great informative capture Gary, I have noticed that the imm. alway seem larger than the adults, esp. when flying. Kinda led me to think I had seen a Golden Eagle one day as the adult was puting the run to junior. sigh, But I'm feeling much better now.;)

Excellent images - you're so lucky over there to be able to see Eagles let alone photograph them. We have two regular species in the UK (White-tailed & Golden) but neither breed in England any more both being confined to Scotland. I have to take a round trip of 600 miles to see both species and then it's not guarenteed.

Yes they have longer and stronger flight feathers for the first 2 years, I guess it is natures way to enable flight.
