The quality of your shots is always amzing Alex. I really like that thrush. And not a bad shot of your pintail decoy either. Is that in your bathtub? :D

Thanks a lot Mitch :) :) I appreciate the nice comment brother... I made a couple of natural blinds at the shore line, and the Pintails came right in.... So close that a number of shots couldn't be taken because they were to close to hit focus... Thanks again Mitch.... Your comment means a lot... I was, and still am hell bent and determined to get every nickels worth out of this 100-400. It is like a new lens with the 1D... Shoots sharp wide open and focuses lightning fast... I never would have believed it.... Take care pal.....

Are doing anything different in post processing? I can't believe it, your shots are smoother at 4mp than mine at 8mp.

The only different Mitch is I am doing my best to get closer... It is my understanding that the early 1D using a CCD at 1.3X instead of the Cmos at 1.6x have fewer pixels but they are larger in surface area, so they absorb more per pixel..Kind of like comparing apples to oranges in shear pixel counting... The 1D doesn't do under exposing well without noise and so I am also trying to be sure I don't do that... The 1D is an amazing piece of gear... Definitely deserves the pro rating it gets, even if it is the older version... Thanks again Mitch.... You really should consider the trade off from 30D to 1D if you want to snap to focus, and go for the action shooting... 45 focus points instead of 11 makes a massive difference in the in flight keeper rate... I honestly think the 1D hits focus more accurately, and this is why my 100-400 is now able to be sharp wide open instead of having to be closed down to f8 with my 20D's.... Take care brother....

As usual, top notch images Alex! And I love the variety and new species you bring to the forum. That pintail is a beautiful creature and the water is as smooth as glass in your image.
