Phocal - did you get it? did you get it? hehe

What time you leaving your house?

shhhhhhh! you're going to scare the sacred delivery birds away!;)

i'll probably be down there around six-ish to scout around and determine what our best options are in the way of access to restrooms, crowd avoidance/interference etc.

i've been having some bad luck with squatters making themselves at home under my canopy. i've set it up three times, twice at white plains beach and once at hale'iwa and all three times strangers just pop in, spread out their mats and start having a picnic right behind me under my canopy as i'm busy taking pictures. they don't even ask until i look at them and then they give me this funny look like "what's your problem, dude?" i hope that wierdness doesn't follow me to magic island.

I'll be guarding the stuff as long as I can see the beach. We may have to butt up close to the sidewalk.

Cool, how much people are you bringing? We have enough food already...Would you be able to bring rice? Then I can scratch G35 off of that.

It'll just be me. Rice...no problem. One of the few things I can cook decently. :D

Ok...tomorrow is the BBQ day!!.

Plans so far:

0700 Phocalphobe and Linkzi will be at Magic Island.

0845-0900 Honolulu Zoo shooters meet at the zoo entrance. Look for Canon equipment  We generally wait 10 minutes after showtime before we start the shoot. So...If your not at the zoo at 0910, the shooters will start without you.

1030 Start cooking

1200 Kaukau

1300-Sunset. ?????

I had some time to kill downtown today, so I went to Magic Island and saw a huge stage set-up on the sand right at the beginning of the parking lot. On Memorial Day, they will launch the lantern ceremony. Shouldn't be a problem tomorrow, but the stage is impressive.

Phocalphobe - We actually have room betwenn the sidewalk and the stone wall facing Bowls to set up our canopies.

Please inform us if you plan to shoot at the zoo. It will help alot for the shooters to know the exact headcount so they can start when everyones there.

sound good. thanks for riding herd on this outing linkzi. it's much appreciated.

i just got through talking with franko from hawaiianswell.com. he says the surf contest people will set up their scaffolding on the ocean side of the walkway along the water's edge across from the restroom on the waikiki side of magic island. the contestants will be launching off the small jetty adjacent to the scaffolding.

if so, maybe we need to relocate away from that but near enough to be a part of the action.

franko might do a touch-and-go to say hi then loot 'n scoot with some grinds.

just to make all the spectators jealous, we should set up upwind from them so they get to smell all the onolicious food we'll be barbequeing.;)

edit - hey i just noticed you changed your avatar. nice one. did you shoot it?

The small area between the sidewalk and the seawall prior to the larger area looks good.

I'm still in. I'm not going to the zoo, but I will be at Magic Island sometime around 9 - 10.

Are you guys talking about the area directly to the right of the white X on the image on page 1?

Anyway, I'll have a black Lowe Pro backpack and I'm 6'4" and still have a limp so kind of hard to miss.

I've been watching this thread since Linkzi started it. I drool everytime you guys mention all the different food you're going to have. We have lots of sand here in the desert, but it just isn't the same without the water and tradewinds. Have a fun day and please post a lot of pictures!
