Following a tip on a Purple Gallinule, I headed up to the North Shore. Did not find it, but found some great birds at my normally Winter-only areas. These Least Terns were nesting right next to a popular jetty for fishermen and birders. I was fortunate enough to get some decent shots and the sun was still low enough so I was able to get a catchlight in the eyes, which can be quite a challenge. I love these tiny terns. They are so active and noisy and a blast to watch. This is an endangered species in NJ.
