I must say that Photomerge in CS2 is lacking in ability to blend photos together.

I also use the ArcSoft software.

I've used many different versions before finding this one, and now wouldnt bother trying anything else. I think I must have had maybe 2 or 3 pano attempts where they havent stiched correctly automatically, and that's been down to me making errors when taking the pictures. And then only 1 of these which was unrecoverable using the excellent 'manual' part of the program.

I have used several both commercial and free merge packages and have gone back to doing them by hand. The one thing that the photo merge software doesn’t do is use elements that have natural breaks into consideration. For instance, I merged several photos to get a panorama of Waikiki. The merge software pretty much straight lined but there were elements in the photo, a white windowless building, a park with trees. Moving the border left or right based on photographic elements led to a seamless merge. I guess if there were lots of photos I needed to merge I would go commercial, but the one or two I do a quarter make manual merging easy enough.

CS3 photomerge is 1000% better then CS2 could ever do. Try that if you have it.

Heres a picture I just took a minute ago out of my window. On purpose I used 20 pictures to combine this to see if auto stitch would get 'confused' or anything, but I 100% it in cs2 and found no flaws. straight out of the camera, no PP as you can see from the obvious black areas lol.

I agree that CS3 has a far better Photomerge than CS2 and I may even defect from my previous favorite in PTAssembler. A great system and seemless results but a little more time consuming.
