What about this one? There's an ad here, from a guy

(EDIT: s/guy/girl actually/)

very close to me selling it in mint condition for $570 less than the 24-70 will cost me from bhphotovideo.com. And as said, he lives close enough for me to see it before buying. Will even save shipping :) Would you go for it?

Oh yeah..

It would require selling my 50mm 1.4 with polarizer and UV-filter to pay for it (as I got quite some bills this month). But hey, it's summer, f/1.4 isn't really needed again until autumn, and then I can buy back my 50mm =) So again, would you do it? As it seems quite a bargain, and is rated straight 5.0 at fredmiranda..

Probably. The price sounds right, and as long as he's nearby, you can take some test shots with your own camera. From all I've read, it's an excellent lens and compares pretty well with the 24-70.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Cool, I've sent her a mail, asking her to mail me if it's available in the end of month when my salary comes in. If the lens is available, and I find someone to buy my 50mm, I'll go for it, and join the L-club :)

Put my 50mm with filters up for sale now. Really hope I can get a sale on this, and that the 28-70L still will be available at end of month. Unless, I have to go a month without my 50mm before I can afford buying a replacement-lens new.

You might want to ask her if she'd want to take the 50 as part of the payment.....save you the trouble of having to sell it if she's interested.

Canon 40d, some lenses, lots of odd accessories - some of which I never use.

For that price I'd grab it.. other than the mm there is little difference in quality between the two lenses.. (24mm / 28mm-70mm)

I grabbed the 28 used for half the cost of the 24mm and am VERY happy.. :)

Yeah, it got higher optical score at photozone.de than it's younger-brother. I guess they're quite the same from reviews I've read. I get almost half-price of a new 24-70, so if I get this lens, I'll probably be so thrilled I just kiss the first person I see after pikcing it up =D
