I'm turning to you POTNs for help, because maybe you know a whole lot more than i do right now.

What software applications do you know for upload and print and what are their plus and minus.

I'm interested in the software behind sites like http://www.kodakgallery.com/Welcome.jsp (external link)

Thanks in advance

Hi Marius, Welcome. Most printing companies will provide you with software to upload images to their servers for printing (as Kodak does in your example). I use www.whcc.com (external link) and they use a program which you can dowload from their website. Some will instruct you to upload your images using an FTP transfer protocol - also easy - I use: http://www.smartftp.com/ (external link) .Good luck, Dennis

I use two different labs depending on what I am ordering. The one provides you with software (ROES) to facilitate the upload and the other one just creates an account for you and asks you to ftp them. I use filezilla as my ftp software and firefox. Works like a charm.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

What if you were to start a company of such sorts? That's the software i'm interested in. I am more interested in the soft you need as a provider.

I greatly appreciate your quick answears.

What sort of company are you talking about. A printing/lab service?

You could probably get away with the basic ftp software providing you have the server(s) to support it.

Perhaps you could explain in a little more detail what you are trying to accomplish. If this is a lab and you are looking for software then perhaps you need a total solution from a provider if you are interested but don't know exactly where to start. As I said in my previous post the one lab that I use has the ROES software for ordering and uploading. You can see it -- here -- (external link)

A printing service would be more accurate. So it's basicly a whole lab service, with added functions like uploading and sharing your photos with friends and the actual printing would be outsorced at first, until there will be enough money to buy a photo lab.
Something like http://www.kaphotoservice.com/demos.html (external link)

Now if you could help me out with some 'know-how' or ''know-which' software is best' it'd mean a lot to me.

P.S. I checked out the ROES site earlyer on but it's not what i'm looking for since it needs a client to upload and order prints and that would be a draw-back since it would complicate the process. The target user is the regular good-old fellow who just wants some memories on paper from last holiday and not necesarily the pro-photographer who knows how to use these tools.
