great action photography petcal. My wife and another couple were birding a few years ago. My friend's redheaded wife walking in front of me passed too close to a redwing nest and was assaulted by the cock. I did see the feet go into her hair. She ended up more scared than bloodied. He went off the next week and found an approachable nest with chicks. He decided to photograph the chicks and was quickly set upon by both adults. RWBB need to be considered one of the more aggressive nest protectors in N Am.

I believe you are right, Sam......they do not fake an attack, they actually pounce upon an intruder.

Great behavior series Peter, didn't know the RWBB would attack. The park would seem to be a strange place for them to set up territories. I have seen, of course, Mockingbirds do this, and I have photographed the RWBB and never was even noticed.
