I'm thinking of getting photographer's insurance for two reasons:

1) my camera bag costs more than my car
2) some places require liability insurance for a shooting permit

Question to the forum: WHich company do you use/recomend?
I'm in NJ, USA - given that this is an international forum.

Thanks in advance all.

Hill & Usher

I just got a quote on all of my gear. I have several pieces of equipment and travel a great deal. I shoot everything from weddings to grizzly bears in Alaska.

This company is a brokerage house and uses The Hartford insurance company for their camera policy. I have The Hartford insurance on my cars and home and have had great service. Anyway the minimum premium is $500 and covers about $10,000 dollars worth of equipment. THE PACKAGE also covers many other liability issues.

Call Dawn Decot at 1-866-977-4725 and visit with her about your issues.

I got a "Personal Articles Policy" from State Farm for all of my equipment. It is very reasonably priced. I don't remember the exact quotes, but I am paying about $5 a month for over $5000 of covered equipment. I don't know if they would be much help for the liability insurance though.
