We own two Sigma lenses, both of which work beautifully and are much liked (though one did break awhile back and was promptly repaired under warranty).

That's it. No other Sigma gear.

In todays mail we received a completely unsolicited package from Sigma containing a baseball cap, a very nice polo shirt, a lens cleaning cloth in a pouch, and a nice ballpoint pen. All these items carry the Sigma SD-14 logo.

There was no note, invoice, statement, packing list or any other form of communication in the package.

Now, we like freebies as much as anyone, but why were they sent?

Did anyone else receive a similar care package?

Never heard of such a thing. Are your lenses especially expensive? (Sigmonster?)

Maybe if you have a bad repair experience or something they send you fun stuff. Maybe I'll send my 20 in just for fun and see what I get.

Which lenses do you own? How long ago did you purchase/register them? I have the Sigma 30, but have not received anything like this. Seems like a good way to advertise to a target market, but I'm sure Sigma are aware of the loyalty of Canonites.

We (actually, my wife, who is the photographer) have a 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 DG Macro about a year and a half old, and an APO 170-500mm F5-6.3 DG about 6 months old.

It was the 28-300mm that broke at the 11-1/2 month point. It would not zoom. They repaired it no questions asked with an 8 day turn-around.

Other than product registrations and that one repair, we have had no direct communications with Sigma.

Why they sent the care package to us, I haven't the faintest idea.

Cool to walk around with the Sigma SD-14 freebies while using your Canon. Maybe they thought you were prime target for a change but that baby is way over-priced in my opinion.

I'd be guessing that it's possibly something to do with registering your gear...

I never register anything - no point. The "freebies" you get back tend to be landfill anyway,

Who cares, you got some free stuff. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
All I get from Sigma are junk e-mails. :(
I'd like a Sigma 120-300 T-shirt or something, better yet, the lens.
