I just imported several raw images from my 30D using iPhoto 6. There's nothing wrong with the program - it will import raws from any Canon camera. The file is just that - a raw image. iPhoto does nothing to change it unless you tell it to. What version of iPhoto are you using? What kind of Mac?

I agree with this. iPhoto6 has no problem with Raw images. I also can copy Raw files from my CF card to any random folder and can view them with Preview no problem. Run Software Update.

Nothing except:

Yeah, a card reader would've been great except that it was 3am in Cowtown PA (no offense to York, but seriously), and I wouldn't have had time to find a store even once they were open.

He might be looking at the JPEG redition of the raw file. Each is kept in a different folder, I think (but even if they're not, there are two separate files), although you can't tell that by just viewing the image in iPhoto.

Must be it :)

Why not just buy another CF card and download the lot when you get home? Seems like much less hassle to me.

Indeed, only a decent and relatively cheap card is even harder to find than a card reader, given the conditions :)
