Hello.

My friend told me, that it is possible to make some great shadow effects and cool lightning when shooting with RAW, and I thought I'd try that.

But I don't know howto open the RAW files I've got. I've been looking all over the internet, and I found a plugin for my PS CS1, but unfortunately, it didn't work.

Does anyone know where to find a plugin, or just a sepperate software that allows me to edit RAW files?

Thanks in advance.

Use the software that came in your camera box or download Raw Shooter Essentials. You'll have to Google it for a download link, as I don't have one handy.

I have the same problem with RAW. I've shot some and after much frustration managed to download it but I didn't bother recording how I did it. I have a couple RAW pics on my camera now that I can't seem to download. I use PSE 5.0.
I KNOW RAW is the way to go but I just haven't quite been able to figure it out.

RAW files can be opened with applicable software. For instance, Lightrom, Photoshop, and other image processing software.

For PSE5.0 the image should open for you (make sure you have the latest version of the ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) plugin from the Adobe website.

Otherwise Canon's own DPP is probably the best option to quickly get you going. (Check the CD's that came with your camera... once its installed you can go to Canon's website and get the latest versions.
