It's a stunner on the 5D ... I have that combo. Try shopping around for a better price if you ain't done that already.

A wonderfully versatile lens, the IS also helps alot in poor light/indoor shots.

I would not be without it.

Tremendous walk-around on FF. Still excellent for general purposes on a 1.3X crop camera. On a 1.6X crop camera it also has its uses. I had this on a 30D for a wedding shoot as a backup photographer for close-up candids and other still-life/ abstract photos. No flash. I was very pleased with the results, considering it was mostly used wide open at f/4. I presume it would do equally well for street photography on a 1.6X crop camera.

My dad has this lens on a 5D and I've only had the chance to mess around with it once but I immediately fell in love with it...and the camera!

I also think you can find it cheaper.

Fantastic lens; sharp, great with the IS in low light. Very good contrast and colour. Not too heavy either, since getting the 70-200 :-) Useful lengths, even on a crop body. This is my general walk about lens.

The only gripe I have is its external zoom. But then, you're not going to be "bumping into anything (unless you try and get up close to glass) and you have the hood anyway.

On your 5D it will be perfect. Get it! :-)

Looks like you have the range covered already. I don't think it is a huge upgrade for you. Mind you, I'm very happy with mine.

I recently bought one and with my particular 20d it is near focusing pretty bad, so AF at f4 isn't sharp (or even close). I got a replacement and it is a little better, although still near focusing a bit too much on my camera to be sharp f4 with AF.

I think my camera maybe front focuses a tiny bit on all lenses, but all my other lenses still AF within DOF so are sharp at f4 AF. My 24-105s are the first lens to AF this far off. so the combination of the lens and camera has it focusing just out of DOF at f4.

I think I'll keep the second lens and send it to Canon to see if they can calibrate it to be closer to my other lenses, as it's noticeably better than the first copy when focused manually. In fact, it is sharper and with better contrast at f4 than my other lenses, including my 70-200 f/2.8 IS at f4.

I may eventually end up sending in my camera to be calibrated, but since all my other lenses are sharp at f4 with AF, I sort of hate to open that can of worms.

You can get this lens for $959 at B&H right now the instant rebates + special codes. Just type *PSMAY* into the search box and find the lens. Great deal.

Just bought this for my 5D (arrive Wed.). As has been said, you cover the range with your 28-105, but would add IS and fixed aperture.

It's not included in the current rebate program.

Couple of bodies, couple more lenses, some stuff to set them on and carry them in.
