Just a couple of shots of some goldfinches. Been busy lately and haven't had time for getting out. Now the rain is keeping me in and all I can do is shoot through the window.

Nice shots but they are both males, the second one is in transition to breeding plumage, note the black coming in on the forehead.

We have many of those males here who haven't changed or are in the change still. Maybe they don't mature til the second year? I don't know that much about them.

I found this on the Hinterland site...
"is the only bird of its type that gains its breeding plumage by moulting, or shedding and growing feathers."
