Northern Parula Warbler

I just spent four days with Marc (Blackburnian) at Point Pelee. What a wonderful experience it was. Met birders and photographers from everywhere witnessing the spring migration of warblers and others. The woods and marshes were alive with birds of all types including owls, kites, plovers, buntings, tanagers, orioles not to mention warblers of every kind.

Very nice shots. I love to be able to see these little guys out in the open, and not in the middle of a clump of leaves.

ZipDude66, I have seen several different warblers and they have all come to me. I live in the country and I see them on my property. It might just be the habitat that is wrong?

There tend to be warbler "hotspots" where they can be seen in large numbers and variety. Many want to have some running water nearby; I know the places around DC where I see them most often are either wetlands, the brush around ponds, or Monticello Park (the prime local spot--a stream at the bottom of a steep little valley). I've yet to see a single warbler in my yard, though (but did just an hour ago witness an entire flock of Cedar Waxwings drop out into the tree outside my office window!)

So if you're not seeing them or not a big enough variety, it's probably where you are going (or not going) to see them.

Point Pelee, where Rick photographed this one, is one of the top spots in the US for warblers. I do really want to make a trip there myself during migration.

I know it's just a Technicality but Point Pelee is a Canadian National Park. Its Canada's smallest National Park on Canada's Southetn most tip and is visited by appeoximately 300,000 people a year.

Two excellent captures here Rick with my only nit being a yellow/green cast on the images?? You have image editing OK and i will remove it if you like but the attached edit is how I think it should look.. Let me know.

Duh... My bad. I meant North America; must be my US-centricism showing.

It being in Canada is the main reason I haven't been yet; my job makes me give 30 days' notice to travel internationally at current.

Wow, an excellent series. I am just getting into warblers, didn't realize that there were so many and beautiful ones like the one you have shot. Well done.
