Just wanted to share my adventure.

I noticed a bit of dust on some recent photos so I decided to try and blow the dust off with compressed air...

I don't have any official sensor cleaning material, besides this dust blower:

So I am going to purchase this Nikon Lens Pen cleaner:

My theory is that, if I blow compressed air on one of the sides of the pen cleaner it will attract dust, so I just wipe my sensor gently with it and then it will clean it very nicely.

Am I wrong in my theory? I'm not sure how that pen cleaner can help me besides removing dust the way I prestated. Does anybody have a better product that is relatively cheap? I don't want to spend $50 for something I'll rarely use.

It will cost you a lot more than $50 if you damage the sensor filter.;)

Don't use canned air it has a propelant that makes things stick to it and that will make the dust harder to get off... Use a Giotto rocket blower or a clean negative brush if they still make them...

All digital camera makers say to never ever used compressed air to clean a DSLR. They leave residue that can do serious damage to the sensor. Get a big blower like Rocket or Hurricane blower and then something like Sensorklear. Blow out the area with the blower and then apply the Sensorklear, then blow the area out again. My sensor was as dirty as your before and after cleaning it as described there is not one spot left.

I use a Kodak Brownie
