Hi, just wondering, does anyone know how this monitor would be for image editing?

Does anyone have a recommendation of a good monitor and not too much money? I like the swivel feature as that way I can do portraits optimally.

To elaborate:

The model si the samsung 204T

This review (and the rest of my research) suggest Samsungs 204T is pretty good, better for image editing than the newer 204B.

The 204T uses a Super-PVA panel, the 204B uses the TN, which apparently is not that good for colour rendition.

Do many of you use 1600 x 1200? I generally like it best because it allows for good editing for portraits... trickier to do with the really wide ones.

I'd suggest a S-IPS screen or a used CRT...
Have a read here (external link).
I run my CRT at 1600x1200. And a second smaller monitor at 1024x768 for pallettes in PS.

I think all 103,000 members of POTN are in the queue for that one!

Here is a comprehensive list (external link) of the monitors, but be aware, for 20" S-IPS LCD you would have to pay 500$ or more. I'm in the game for one too, and in big dillema. I want widescreen, and 20" is too small, next range of S-IPS monitors are 23" and cheapest one is Apples ACD 23" for about 800$, all others above 1k$. I find that rather difficult to justify :(
Cheers
Vlad

Thanks Rene, I've checked the site. I forgot to mention previously that I like to buy new stuff because of warranty and "longer life expectancy". What is your oppinion on older ACD's?

No idea really. Wouldn't know what screen was used either...
I've only recently looked into LCD displays, because my old CRT monitor was giving in, and LaCie just stopped producing the ElectronBlue IV. Somehow the comparable LCD cost twice as much as the CRT used to cost. That really wasn't an option, not to mention that I'd seen one a bit before that (calibrated), and the CRT version was better IMO...

So I got a used CRT from the site mentioned above ;)
The way I see it, if I have to buy a new one in 2 or 3 years, displays will be both better and cheaper, and I've not paid much for those 3 years...
