75-300 stuck aperture blades

I've got a canon 75-300 f 4.5-6.3 III USM here that has been throwing Err99's on my XTI. It turns out that any time it was stopped down it would give the error.

Now the blades have stuck pretty much closed.

Is there anything I can do short of sending it in for service - which is probably a waste of time and money given the quality of this lens.
