Now I know that this shot is not "technically sound" but hell I like it!
Was fooling around when I went to take a shot of my nephew (watching t.v.). Wasnt enough light so the shutter (AV + ISO 1600 + f/2.8) dragged a little. No flash was used yet his face is pretty clear and it also gave that "Hellboy" smoke effect. Played with levels, contrast, brightness and coverted to B&W.

Yes he is a lil Hellboy w/o the tail, horns, muscles, and red skin.

looks like his spirit is floating out of his body. i think its a nice "artsy" shot.

"A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind."

Thank you, even though it was an 'artsy' mistake:p

I agree, a different more dramatic pose could be excellent, I liked it purely for the effect, not so much the composition or pose.

I dont think your 'me the ghost' is anywhere near similar to this one. Telling someone to go and view yours as 'the way it should be done' is very rude and quite arrogant. They each have their own styles.

Personally, I like the 'effect' of hellboy and feel that it could be used extremely well in future pictures once it is refined a little. Good job.

Well to be honest Ive done plenty of "me the ghost" photos, not that difficult really. This one on the other hand has a completely different look. I tried a few test shots after I noticed the effect and came close but not cigar, so now Ill have a technique to practiceLD

Personally I like mine better for the simple reason that the appearance of smoke/spirit is something Ive never seen. NOT saying it has never been done.
"Ghostly" pictures, in my opinion, are not that difficult.

Thank you for the comment

Actually its my call....so now we stop it.

I never wanted it to look like a ghost, I know how to do that.
This has a smoke effect, no curtain flash, just simple nautral window light and a slow shutter with a small hand quiver.

I have yet to see this effect anywhere else.

NOT to say MKIIs 'look' isnt cool....cuz it is, but like I stated, I have seen it before.
Also to add csm's responce, he was simply stating what he felt your approach to my look was. Yes it seemed a lil blunt but overall I understood what you meant. Was it worded properly? I would say not. Was it offensive to me? Nah, its just an opinion and I take it for that.

Has this went in the complete opposite direction I intended with this thread? LOL yeah but its all good, because Im here to right the ship.:D:D
