This bag was purchased for a small and limited kit at work. I got to do the purchasing so the bag was my choice. It does the job, but its a little smaller than I'd anticipated. Basically it just fits everything, there is no room to grow.

Everything in this case is an XTi, Sigma 17-70, 10-20, and Canon 50 as well as the usual suspects for accessories. The shots below show it with a 300D, 17-40 and 85 in the bag, but there was very little extra room and I'd be worried about maybe loosing protection with things tight up against the inside. Don't even think about using a battery pack, or wanting the camera with a long lens mounted to fit in there. The LowePro website lists the bag as good for a body and lens and 2 extra lenses. This only works if you either own lots of Canon 50 1.8 lenses and want 3 of them with you, or (as I have done) put your smallest lens in the top part.

Other than the comment that its a small bag everything in pretty good. The sling thing does good for comfort with a small bag and makes your kit reasonably accessible.

The bag has an all weather tucked nicely away, a decent size accessory pocket on the front, and then a decent size compartment at the top of the bag. In the main part there are plenty of dividers but customization is limited to keeping them or removing them. There isn't the Velcro on the inside to move from anything aside from their standard layout.

A nice bag if you only own, or want to carry a small amount of equipment. It'd be perfect for a small body (XT/XTi) and a couple of lenses. Sure it fits more but you really start to run out of room. If you've looked at the Slingshots and like to travel light it is certainly a nice bag.

Thanks for posting that. I've been looking at the Slingshot 100 and now having read your comments I think I might look at a larger model :-)

I own a LowePro Slingshot 300 and before you purchase, I should warn you about LowePro's customer service. I have a problem with the bag where a sewn seam has come apart. Multiple emails to LowePro asking for warranty coverage have gone unanswered. Otherwise the size of the 300 is just right for me.

I've got this too, but don't use it anymore because of the velcro in the back of the bag. If you wear someething cotton, the velcro, which is placed in a bad spot, will rub on the back of your shirt until there is a hole. Yes, I've got an axe to grind with LowePro on this design.

Thanks Colin; I'll have a look :-) Pdslowik, your lens list is quite similar to my lens wish list, so a 300 might have enough room for everything I would like!

Noted! It seems from reading the reviews that no one makes the perfect bag!Mike

The 100 was small but quite suitable pending your gear. Could easily take a 70-300 USM IS, medium tele and a flash plus another lens or the flash could go in the top with accessories in the front pocket. If my tele wasn't already a 70-200 F2.8, I would have kept mine. too small though and the 200AW just got heavy w/o being able to switch shoulders. Here's my 200 though with my latest gear.

EDIT: I found my perfect bag for the time being.

Yes, I saw your picture :-) I haven't got much to put in a bag at the moment, so maybe I'm being a bit too optimistic with bag sizes!

Sun.
Is the 100 the only SS that has velcro on the back. Looking at my 200 and 300 there is no velcro anywhere.

Velcro. I never noticed any one mine. Some people complain about the oddest things, like staining or something cause by the SS series which I never got either from either of mine.

The only velcro I can find on the back of mine is the bit that holds in the rain cover. Its recessed and both pieces of velcro go neatly against each other. I don't see how it could cause any wearing.

Unless it was a defective one and one of the velcro pieces wasn't inserted properly? Haven't had any cotton shirts damaged by mine so it must be a fairly limited issue.

Secondly, these do see to be bags that grow with use. Now the insides have a little more give I can get my stuff in much easier.

Would this be able to fit a 40D with the EF-S 17-55 attached and the 70-200 F4L off to the side?
btw, thanks aravena for the picture. (just wasn't sure if the sig 70-200 and the canon were the same size.

The OP stated:

Don't even think about using a battery pack,

If you mean a 'battery grip', I would have to disagree.
My XTi with Canon battery grip attached fits into the SS100 without problem.

I find this bag is nicely made, and works well for an afternoon of casual shooting at the park, ect.. And no velcro has ever attacked my shirts ! :D
