Ok guys - I"m REALLY not sure about this photo. I seem to be in a phase of shooting the skyline from points of view other than the long exposure at night....so yesterday I shot at dusk when it was very very hazy - skyline was not clear at all (I loved it looking like that). I shot in raw with a 70-300 canon-220mm. ISO was 400, f/9 at 1/320. I went a little cooler with color temp in C1. Other than that, just a crop in PS.
Since I'm not sure about this at all, any advice, comments are very welcome!
Thanks,
C

The poles and electric wires and transformer are exactly the point of the photo.....

Well, in this case, the background is distracting. In my opinion those 2 elements don't match very well.... maybe if you would have used a bigger apperture, to blur out the buildings more. And if that's the case, I think it would be nice to see the top of the pole.

But I'm no pro either, just my opinion

For some strange reason, I want to put a huge red-yellow sun in the top-right third.
Play with it. Have fun!

Funny thing.......so do I ! Just waiting for a sun that would work in the pic, or a moon......
sometimes it just takes a while to get all the elements.

Thanks !

I read somewhere that a photo should only have one subject. Your photo has two subjects. one distracts me from the other and I don't know what I should look at.

You did capture some nice light and colors.

I guess if its distracting then the intent of it works well....
Thanks for the comments!

I like the paradox of the shot. Beautiful tall buildings and the less-than-beautifuly infrastructure without which the tall buildings would be useless.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I am not sure whether you are not sure about this photo ?!

I believe it is exactly such a photo which some like and some don't.
Some thoughts:

The skyline alone with this blue haze and with a wide angle (more panoramic) could be very beautiful.

The power plant with a blurred background of the skyline in these colors could be used for an electricity company or so.

This picture as is, I would not frame and hang in my living room.

Yes the skyline would be great without it. I do, however, live in a city with powerlines, transformers, freeway bridges, street lights, buildings all at most points blocking the skyline. So, rather than run around looking for that one vantage point and one moment of light. etc, I'm choosing to shoot the scene as is......yes, I could edit out a lot in photoshop, but I'm not interested in that....I'm interested in shooting a city like it is....am I not sure about the photo? At one point I was not sure about it; am I sure about it now? Absolutely. The intent of shooting it was clear. Did it accomplish that intent?
Yes it did.

Thanks for the comments.
