During the Maskerade 2007 the Art Color Ballet from Poland did a wonderful show.
Although the light situation was very very bad I was happily surprised with the quality of the shots, all 5D ISO3200 with the 70-200 f2.8 L IS, no noise reduction was used.

Very nice. Only problems I have is with #2 being framed a bit too low and the clipping blue channel in #5... Apart from that: A-okay.

Very cool stuff!

Were the women wearing only paint above the waist?

Fantastic photos, very cool and different from any ballet I have seen. I was curious about your settings and by looking at your exif, I noticed your were in AV mode and getting a wide range of shutter speeds. Was there alot lot of strobe lights lighting the scene?

Correct.
The light was changing constantly and some photographers were using flash which ruined alot of shots.

I wouldn't call them photographers. They would be idiots with cameras, or maybe Nikon users, but not photographers.

Great photos, love them all... #1, #3, #5 and #8 are real special...

I have a great idea guys...

Maybe I could have been of help there... I speak Polish... (Was an Interpreter of Polish for the State of California a few times...)

Let me know if they are performing in your area and need an interpreter... ;) I'd love to volunteer my services...:D :D

Soc, I'm not sure that encouraging Curtis' tendency to criticize others who are less fortunate than he is a good idea! And I personally know several Canon shooters who are less than, er, ah, um, well, HUMAN!

I have a personal pet peeve about people who ruin other patrons' enjoyment of a good performance through their own ignorance and selfishness, and perhaps that prompted my cutting remark. I'm normally a really nice guy. :D

But hey, I took piano lessons for five years. That doesn't make me a pianist. In fact, calling me a pianist would be in insult to pianists everywhere. Sometimes ya gotta call a spade a spade.

I really like these. The colors are great, and ISO 3200 with little to no noise WOW!! Shooting my daughthers first ballet is what drove me to DSLRs, these are the results I hope to achieve at her future events. My 70-200 2.8 IS came today and these shots have me really excited about this lenses capabiliaties. I love #3, the colors and motion displayed are great. Thanks for posting a wonderful series ;)
