Purple Swamp Hen

Well, I had a most excellent POTN mini meet up with Greg (Greg_C) and Tina (Catsith). We did a bit of Dragonfly hunting, and water bird hunting, including some attempts at bird in flight shots of ducks (mine came out horrid ). Anyways, I only took a few shots of these Purple Swamp Hen, this is the best of the lot. Taken with my 1D and 300mm f4, I waited until the late afternoon sunlight lit up its face before taking the shot

Very nice Dave. Looks like patience paid off on this shot. Much better than when the sun is in your face.

Nice shot Dave, they are a great mix of colours that blend well aren't they. I think we needed to get a bit more serious about the ducks in flight, I always seems to be doing something else when they flew by. I did get one in focus shot of the cockatoos that flew over.
