I seem to have a goldfinch problem, lately. I'd like to shoot other birds, but keep finding these little ladies to be the best available models. Comments welcome...
Thanks, Bob

But that's a male, you can tell by the beginnings of the black cap he's got on his forehead. this is a male? God, I give up...:o "Slower minds keep right..."

The beginnings of black feathers on the head, the different colors of yellow on the breast and that yellow bib makes it look male to me. This is definately a breeding female. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

But I know mine is a female as she is always with a male with the black cap. Some of my finches still have those grey patches of feathers and look like they won't turn this year. I'm thinking it is just the way it is unless they actually find a mate, or it's their second year and won't breed til next year. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

Also, since they are available, you can practice your photographic skills. Listen, it's all I can do to get one in decent focus when they're comatose, much less moving. I'm happy just to find a shot on a limb that's worthy of this forum. I've tried to take some in-flight shots, but I can only get decent captures on bigger birds like hawks. These guys are like shooting gnats... "Slower minds keep right..."
