A couple from this morning before attaching myself to a garden tiller... what joy... Anyway, the bluejay was waiting for me to leave the window blind so he could grab a peanut. While he waited the red bellied woodpecker grabbed one and flew off. Patience isn't always a virtue when you're hungry, I guess...;)

I think the only other bird more skittish and untrusting than the Blue Jay is a Cardinal. Red Bellies are a little leery of people, but they can get over it, where Blues can see you every day and still be scared off. :)

Nice shots too. I haven't seen my yard Red Belly for months now and not much of the Jays for that matter.

Love the look of the jay in the leaves...nice contrast. VERY nice woodpecker shot. (it is a woodpecker, isn't it???? I usually get them wrong...I say woodpecker and everyone says "sapsucker!" I say sapsucker and everyone says "Flicker!" I say Flicker and everyone says "woodpecker!". Feathered creature about covers it...:)

I think the sapsucker/woodpecker debate is a waste of time. Whichever way I call it turns out to be wrong, so I'm just stating my case as if I know what I'm talking about. Works at work... and most of the time in Trivial Pursuit.

Well, calling them all woodpeckers is correct as Sapsuckers, Flickers and Red Belly Woodpeckers are all woodpeckers.
