My Very First Shots with the Bigma

Hey Everyone this is my very first foray in DSLR photography and I have kind of jumped in at the deep end by buying a 30D and picked up a Bigma (DG Version) for just under $800AUD yesterday. The following are a couple of shots i took in the garden just yesterday unfortunately it was raining and overcast (A rarety for Brisbane atm) so abundance of light and decent subjects was limited, but i woul like to know what people think. Like i said never really used a DSLR before so just spent the weekend shooting everything and anything to get a feel for what feature does what. I am going on a short course soon to learn the ins and outs of it all but so far i am glad to have taken to this stunning (and sometimes expensive) hobby.

Where did you get the 50-500? Is that new? I got mine close to 1K, used. Lucky you. Nice shot of a miner btw

Nice photos! But is it me or do they look a little on the soft side? Are these 100% crop?
