I photographed this little bird today. Unfortunately the angle was very steep. I believe that it's a Warbling Vireo but I'm not that good with identifying the smaller birds.

Bigma + 12mm extension tube on tripod* with fill flash. Shots are cropped to about 40-50% of full frame.

* I took the camera off several times for some quick handhelds so I'm not sure if any of these were "freehand".

You got the ID right, Stephen. First shot looks good, although you could darken the "steel-eye" a little.

The first image works for me Stephen and although these birds don't have a lot of colors they are quite beautiful.

I thought one was a Chiackadee for a second today when it flew out of a tree and almost landed on me. It knew I wasn't a tree before I realized it was a Warbling Vireo.:D

Thanks Dan, Wayne and Gary for the comments and the positive ID.

Dan I agree about the eye. I did nothing to these shots other than to crop and adjust levels a bit.

Wayne I agree that the shots look a bit noisey. I know that the Bigma was working hard to get a focus on these birds in the amongst the leaves.

Great captures, I have just shot my first pictures of the Warbling Vireo. They are a beautiful bird as your shots show.
