After long debate with myself about buy or don't buy, I finally walked in and said hook a brother up. I walked about 3K lighter with a grip, a second battery and yet another 4gb card. Oh and a 5D ;)

Wow! I get to learn how to use my lenses again! It's a good thing and I'm loving full frame again.

Steps in the workflow have changed too i.e. noise processing and general frame cleanup to pop the image. Wishing I had done this instead of buying the 30D but hey it's been fun.

I'm selling the 30D to a bud and keeping the XTi as the backup cuz it's light and works well.

How many of you struggle with habbit between shooting the 5D and a crop body? I'm just hoping I can keep it all straight .. sigh

I just busted out my 5D this weekend with my 70-200L. OMG...the image was amazing, the camera handled wonderfully and the output was just astonishing. I love it, I love it and I'll gladly give up the crop body for the quality the 5D brings. I saw a definite IQ upgrade.

The crop body would be good for wildlife and at the zoo.
I took my 5D, 70-200 f2.8IS and 1.4x TC and still wanted to go longer.

With the crop you can get much "closer"...

After I got my FF, there was no point in keeping the crop camera (for me).

Congrats, though I'd think you'd keep the 30D and sell the XT so that your main and backup bodies had similar controls. That makes switching back and forth between the two much easier.

I'd hang-on to the 30D and ditch the XTi.
In fact, I plan to get a 30D (or 40D if I wait long enough) so that I can use my 24-105 on the 5D and use my 70-200 (with or without 1.4x TC) on the 30D (40D). Much quicker to change cameras than change lenses, although there will be a bit more to carry around.

Funny people you are (poke's at one another) ;)

Keep the 30D? Nahhh. I want the second body to be lite and the work I do can wait if the body dies.

Congrats on the 5D. I bought an XTi as a second body and I think the 2 compliment each other well. The XTi is a great little camera for when I just want to travel light, and I don't have too much trouble keeping the control layout straight in my head. :)
