You all know I'm going to complain about something, right? When I did engineering for bands, we had this rule of thumb that the opening act didn't usually get the same mix or light show as the headliner. It's what I used to call "engineer etiquette". Well last night it bit me. I shot Hipbootjoe first. The frontman wore black and white, the follow spots were bright and the fiber in the background was black. The upstage lighting left a lot to be desired. Need I say more?
Oh, this was my first casino shoot, by the way.
Here's one that I came up with. Mind you, this first one was after blending. (Thanks for the insight, guys) I need to take out my contacts, so I don't know how off target this is. But you get the picture. The second picture is David St. Romain. The lighting was obviously better.
