Its my first attempt at flowers:)

Id say sure. I like the texture the shot gives. The highlights seem just a tad blown out... but I still like it.
Do you have a tripod?

I'm no expert ... but did you do this in a lightbox? The background appears gray. There is also an area to the right that appears to be a corner. It's a pretty orchid so I would shoot it again and adjust your lighting to try to avoid having shadows (those are apparent on the bottom of the picture) and avoid the corner to eliminate that from the frame as it's sort of distracting. By the way, if you are using a lightbox, I've found that Adobe Lightroom can help tremendously, too.
