last month ex-Uncle Tupelo mainstay Jay Farrar had reconvened Son Volt (after playing solo and as Gob Iron) for a new record and tour. mostly famous for kickstarting the alt.country movement and lending the name to the _No Depression_ zine which covered it, UT was a pivotal band for sure. the 1st post-UT lp was excellent (_Trace_), but gradually Jay lost his way. however, the new record's a pretty strong return to form and has a few real shining moments (including the R&B flecked single "The Picture", which they performed on Letterman last month).

Interesting ... I like 4 & 6. I've shot Ingram a few times and have some images of Chris. It always surprises me seeing sidemen show up with different bands even though I know the good ones are constantly working with somebody new.

Wow, those are cool... I prefer # 6 from the first set... but they are all very good as a set...

Narlus, again... you have great taste in music. UT were great and i have no reason to believe they are otherwise today. Do you travel a lot or are you lucky enough to be near a or a few good venues?

hey moemoe, thanks. i'm lucky enough to live about 25 miles outside of boston, and while it's no NY or LA, a lot of good shows get booked here.

bacchanal, i was gonna apply for a photo pass for when Wilco rolls into town, but i'll be on vacation (in germany/amsterdam!) during that time.

taygull, UT is certainly my cup o' meat, and while i'm not a rabid son volt fan, i do like a decent amount of their stuff. ;)

thanks for the comments all.

Nice set. I like #2, 5 6 and 8 in particulair.
Can't help but nagging about the blues in #1 however: Solid 'block of color' in the highlights... If you've got the time, try a few different RAW converters: DPP does okay, and so does LR (after a bit of tweaking).

nice narlus. i love 3. 1 is nice but the blues seem to have issue. it looks like the lighting was tough, which is why the b/w seems to be the favorite. i don't think i even did anything with my shots from the last time i shot son volt. i do like that fact that son volt's new album seems to be getting better reviews than wilco's new one. that is a shame that UT didn't work out.

what sort of meat would you like yr cup filled w/ ? :)

you gonna be in boston?

René, the lighting in this venue can be tough at times, really saturated blues. i spent a few minutes w/ DPP last week but was floundering.

thanks again for the comments, appreciated.

Edit: It's gotta be a New Englander thing...
