You're lucky! At least you know where yours is. I (finally) ordered my Rebel from Dell on Sunday, it shipped from Carrolton, TX, yesterday at 4:00pm, but hasn't been scanned since. The frustrating part is that I live about 30 minutes from Carrolton! Even stranger, the 2 CF cards I ordered at the same time shipped from Austin yesterday and arrived this morning at 10am! I already talked to someone at DHL and they said there wasn't much chance it would be delivered today, even though their site says today is the estimated delivery date and it would likely be tomorrow at the earliest...

Oh well, I guess it will get here soon enough... In the meantime, I've got 2 lovely 512MB CF cards to look at tonight, since I've already memorized the manual...

Good luck!

Ryan

I know, it seems crazy, doesn't it? But shipping efficiently is a science unto itself. Their goal is to keep the trucks and containers as fully loaded as possible, most of the time. That may involve a zig or a zag in order to get goods to a common terminal (probably in Linthicum, MD) so that they can get a large fully-loaded truck or intermodal container to cover that long haul most efficiently. Heck, they may be loading a whole train of goods there for shipment.

Anyway, I know you'll be happy when it arrives! :)

Dell is so close to me that by the time FedEx got their departure scan together, the thing was already out for delivery. ;)

That'd be nice. I told the wife that I'd have driven down to Austin Sunday afternoon after ordering everything and picked it up myself if I could have!

I'm still holding out hope that a 2nd DHL delivery driver will pull up to the house after I get home from work this afternoon...

Congratulations! I hope they actually get it to you today. Post an image if you get it, so I can live vicariously through you. Here's the latest scan on mine:

5/19/04 11:07 am Processed at Sort Facility. Wilmington, OH

I talked with DHL this morning and they said it was a "handling error" on their part, but that it would be here tomorrow by 5. I asked them if the handling error was taking a package that should have travelled about 20 miles and having it go from Carrolton -> Plano -> Ohio -> Plano -> Rowlett and they said that was pretty much it...

Any luck yet, c0ntr0lz? After talking with someone at DHL again this morning, they said there was no chance it would be delivered today and quite possibly not even tomorrow. Then, when I hung up the phone I decided to refresh the tracking page one more time and lo and behold I saw the following:

5/20/04 8:03 am With delivery courier.
7:23 am Arrived DHL facility. Plano, TX

I talked to DHL again to confirm and it is in fact on a truck in the Dallas area and will be delivered today! I'm not holding my breath, but it looks like it might get here...

hehe... ur making me ansy for it to get there... hehehe

good deal. i found it very suprising that the lenses u mentioned are fairly inexpensive. $70 for a 50mm 1.8. i dont have a dslr but been snooping around the boards for awhile researching.

still debating on what to get and when to get it.. i want to get a drebel but instinct tells me after a couple of months knowing me, i will wish i had a 10d and then also if i were to et a 10d then a couple of months go by and then a 10d replacement is released.... hehe. never ending.

leanign towards the rebel and firmware hack. :)
