Thanks,

Nope you're pretty much screwed on these two. You could fudge something in photoshop with a lot of work but it's not going to look great and it's going to take forever just to get it half-ass looking ok.

I'd just go re shoot the pictures. Sucks though, they were nice pictures.

Thanks, I was thinking along the same line. Like I said, I have got to find the light better.

Fill-flash might have saved them.

But better light is a much better way.

I call this dappled shade... If you have a flash, just expose for the background and use the flash as a little more than fill.. it will balance out the speckled light..

You can shoot in the shade, without flash and get really great catchlights, just make sure it's a solid shade.. If not, you can have someone hold a diffuser/reflector over the place where the sun is filtering and that will soten the dappling...

Does that make sense?

Yes, it makes sense. I know where I went wrong. Thanks to everyone. By the way I like your beach picture. Someone asked me about shooting a family picture of them at the beach and I am scared to death they are going to call me this summer. I am much better with indoor pictures.

I think you could save the second picture (the girl in the purple shirt). The dappled parts on the face/hair are in easy to fix spots and the dappled spots on the arms are not distracting, pleasant even.

If you shot in raw you can make an exposure adjustment for those bright spots to make them close in luminosity to the rest of her face, then mask the 2 layers together, then maybe a little healing brush to round out the rough edges.
