Problem with a lot of these shots is, that the focus is not on the subject, but on the foreground somewhere...
Did you use AiServo or OneShot AF?

The one time I used a D60 (when my 10D was in repair), I found it had a very hard time getting accurate (if any) AF in these circumstances... An that's in OneShot. So I'd imagine AiServo would be pretty much useless...

Thanks for all your input Rene'. Yes I used A1 Servo, and the 50mm f/1.8 did alot of searching also. The D60 really does have some low light focusing problems. I am waiting to see what Canon's next pro-sumer camera will be....40D? After they announce, I will be upgrading to that, or 20 or 30D.

I found Steve Miller's presentation very difficult to photograph ... he had his people spread out to maximize distance between them and the lighting wasn't excessive, which for the casino is totally unnecessary. But boy, has he changed his look ... here's one I got of him in September, 2005:

QUOTED IMAGE

That's a great shot of him, Dwight. But I'll be damned if he doesn't look like Jerry Springer.

Yes, well, I'm not sure if that's an insult or not! :-) What are you doing lurking around in here? I don't recall ever seeing you in PA ... but then my memory is close to shot, although my wife says that I don't have to know where I am going when finally get to the car with the keys but I better remember what the keys are for!

I come here to spy on Rene. He owes me $5. But besides that I've posted a few shots on this forum in the past. You've even commented on a few of my only "Performing Arts" shots. But I know as old age sets in, memory ain't what it used to be. ;)

I'm a little worried that Lord Malone and the King Measurebator have discovered our peaceful little section of POTN - the place will never be the same!

Hey you guys... Did you know I can rate this thread?

There is a star rating reference at the top of this page...

Never saw it before there... So I gave this thread a 5 star rating for "participation"...

JOHN, John, john ... the ratings have been there forever ... you just have to get over making every little discovery into an epic! And I must again ask that you review your signature for effluviance ... we need to pursue elegance not gaudiness!

I prefer "Gangster of Love" since I'm no longer a "midnight toker".

Perhaps it's short term memory loss... I'm sorry. What were you saying?

John,

Don't let Dwight give you crap about your signature! He needs to spend more time learning photoshop and less time complaining about the beauty of the POTN.:p

Thanks for wondering... I had to check the dictionary to see what he was getting at... and I know that it does address the issue with some merit...

He's under pressure juggling several of his favorite passions, namely computers and photography... the he just blew a 3 grand power case... but the casino is keeping him happy with an additional, peripheral assignment, and that's always good...

We need to always let him "slide" on these simple distractions... Cause we all know he's all heart...

I hope to be back Thursday niter with some show photos... I'm getting restless too... :D

OK, that's it ... I'm outta' here ... I've taken enough abuse from you two! I know where I'm loved ... the casino ... they just hired me to simply walk around the casino some cute little girl for three hours next Friday before the fights and shoot whatever looks interesting. And I'll finish up the portraits I was taking when the power pack blew up on Monday. And I am working on Natalie Cole right now. Speaking of which, Chris, the synchronizing of the cameras off my laptop seems to have worked perfectly! Great tip! I'm gonna add it to the FAQ.
