I know all of you are keen to help me spend bucks at B&H, so could those of you having lenses in these range, please post an example-picture for me, of the same subject, shot at: 17, 24, 28 and 50mm? Also interested in the 16,17 difference if anyone should have both the 16-35 and the 17-40 :P

Here's one from the 17-40L taken in Florida a couple of months ago:

The best I can get from EXIF is that I took it at a middle f/stop (it reads f/8.5, but EXIF loses something in the conversion from RAW to JPEG) which I believe to be f/11, and 1/180 second. FL was 40 mm on this one.

Thanks, but what I'm looking for, is the difference of the field of view from 24 and 17. Like showing a shot of the same subject shot with both lenses, or even better, shoot the subject @ 17mm, then at 24mm, and then superpose the 24mm image on top of the 17mm, and draw a border around it, so that the difference is clearly seen. Saw this "technique" used in a review showing off how wide the Sigma 12mm really is.

OK, I misunderstood your request (well, I was looking for an excuse to post that one again). :)

No time to do any comparisons tonight since I have to be at work at some illegal hour tomorrow morning. But I suspect that someone here will give you a little better idea of what you are looking for.

The same picture taken with minutes of difference. 12-16-24mm taken with the Sigma 12-24, 28-50 with the Canon 28-135IS. All at f/8

EDIT: As Pekka insist to try to get the size before show any shots (without caching the results), I changed the embedded images by links, as all my bandwidth was eaten by the size verification!!

Thanks =) Have that been posted before (way back?) or do you have it on a webpage? I'm most definetley sure I've seen those shots (at least the location) before.

I can't wait to get a "wider" look at the world. Can you imagine, that 50mm is the "widest" lens I have on my 10D, and such have it been for ~ 6 months now

Think I'll go with the 17-40 though. I'm looking at B&H now, and with my budget, I can hopefully pull of this:

17-40L
Bogen / Manfrotto Monopod with swivel-head
BIG-ED, so my camera look more masculine
Extra battery for BIG-ED
Battery-charger (as I've lost mine :/)

Total price of $1016, pluss ~ $50 in shipping, and another 24% of the sum in import-tax :( If I get a buyer for my 50mm, I will go for it in two weeks or so :) Or maybe the Sigma 12mm.. They're about the same price. I got two weeks or so to decide :)

Probably. They are my lens test shots. I've used them a couple of times before.

You can see a "embedded images" version here (from 12 to 300mm):

Additional 80 and 135mm shots taken with the 28-135IS and 300mm one with the 75-300IS.
