Nice shots, of a species I've never seen. I'm glad he stuck around for the lens swap, the closes ups are fantastic.

Man, you better hope she doesn't access this forum! But even if you're excommunicated from that side of the family tree, you've still got some great shots here. What an odd bird! (not your mother-in-law... the bird)

Thanks village, the mother in law doe'snt know how to use the internet, and her siblings and offspring think birding and photograpghy is weird, so i'm pretty safe.:) (unless it is wierd of course):confused:

Always enjoy seeing photos of these birds and would like to see one in the flesh but they are a Eurasian species if i recall. The last crop works for me,,nice!

Thanks Gary, your right Eurasian, i dont know how common they are but i was pleased to get a capture.
I got a minute's view of it and got 3 shots. After that i visited the same area several times over the next few days but did'nt get a sighting.

You lucky, lucky thing!!! I glimpsed one of these in the Gambia last year and am travelling to Portugal this year specifically to see them. I love these birds. Thanks hugely for sharing!!! :D
