So my coworker has a 6-week old baby and asked if I could take some pictures. No pressure, mostly to help me get some practice. This is all the gear I have:

I want to try to get some decent shots using my 85mm f/1.8. It will most likely be an indoor shoot during the day. Can anyone give me some advice on what I could do to make it look half-way decent?

soft window light and a white reflector with the 1.8 should be ok ,at that age you should do the shots just after she has been feed the she should be most calm and a little sleepy and will allow you to keep moving her about ,they look nice in big white fluffy towels as well ,lets see some of the results

Thanks! It won't be for another 2 weeks or so. In the meantime, I'm trying to read up on it so get some ideas on posing, lighting, etc.

Ok, well I finally got a chance to do this little photoshoot of my co-worker's son. It was outdoors using my 580ex w/ Gary Fong LSII as fill. C&C welcome.

I really like these shots. Great colors and a very cute baby. My only suggestion would be to clone out the dry skin across the eyebrow and on the face. Minor details, but I think it will add just the right oomph. Let's see some more!!! My 2 year old had eczema real bad and when he was younger, had some some nasty scars and some seriously dry skin. I cloned them out and it made a ton of difference.

I agree, great shots but the dry skin is a little distracting :) Very nice captures
