I've been playing with CS2 and lightroom, I took this pic a long time ago on my grandpa's farm (obviously after he had grown to old to up keep it).

Now, I like the picture (even the large branch over hanging - I know it dominates the pic somewhat) and wanted to see how I could make it look in PS

I did two, which processing job do you think fits the pic better?

C&C welcome

I like #1 the best. I connect scenes like that with old memories, so the less contrast/sharpness makes it feel more like an old fading memory. I don't know if that makes sense. #2 might be ok alone, but it feels a little harsh by comparison.

You were doing the right thing in trying to increase contrast, but here it's been overdone and the image looks less natural.

Hello mdrtoys;

Mainly because of the blown-out sky, I suspect that the image would benefit from some PP "ageing". I might play with;
- Conversion to B&W
- Boost the contrast
- Add a graduated tint/filter layer - sepia say, or even a blue tint...
Hope you don't mind the suggestion...
Cheers;
Lee

Hi George;

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 4...

- Go to the Layers palette
- Select "Create an adjustment layer"
- Select "Gradient"

Then play and adjust the parameters to your hearts content...

Cheers;

Lee

Thanks!

Looks like I'll have to learn to use layers then, I've not used them before.
