This gent creeps out from the forest edge from time to time in a quick raid on the bird feeder.

not heard of these birds before - amazing 'redeye' I mean red eyes.

Although you haven't stated where, what country, you are shooting in, this appears to be an Eastern Towhee as opposed to a Spotted Towhee.The range is quite different and the Easterns always have red eyes.

Yours has a different coloration pattern than ours, was there any white on the front? I just want to show you the comparison in color.

Thanks for the views guys.This fellow was shot in the Puget Sound region of Western Washington state, between the Cascade foothills and southern Puget Sound, and is indeed a Spotted variety :>;). Color variations are more than likely due to lighting and "in camera" settings.His chest is white, as you can see from this shot:
